I'd prefer to see self-destructing or deactivated mines. Those things maim for decades after a war. Interesting idea, though.

We need some of those on our southern and northern borders eccept at the check points.

two fences and a mine field several hundred yards wide. Lots of signs and call it a day for illegal crossing of the boarder on foot.

The point is to make it conspicuous so that the people who get hurt are the ones that are aware of what they are trying to do.

The way I read it, it would only be anti-tank mines...

Quote:
The Self-Healing Minefield is an antitank landmine system that does not rely on antipersonnel landmines for dismounted breach protection. Instead the Self-Healing Minefield employs a novel breach response mechanism that can determine both mounted and dismounted enemy assaults on the minefield and respond to maintain obstacle integrity. Contrary to the current mixed minefield systems (Volcano, RAAM/ADAM, and Gator) which require antipersonnel landmines co-located with an antitank minefield to complicate dismounted breaching of the antitank minefield, the Self-Healing Minefield employs intelligent, mobile antitank mines alone to defeat all enemy breaching.
Does that mean there is no danger to me when I walk on an anti-tank mine???

I would guess if they're anti-tank mines, they won't explode unless there's at least a few tons of weight on them. Maybe if you eat too much McDonalds, they'll go off when you stand on top of one.

No, it means that the mine can be activated by humans or tanks, as it "knows" the differance, and adjusts it's trigger accordingly.

hmmm I wonder... if you had a tank that would fly I would assume you mean a hover tank type thing.. one that floats a few feet or what ever off the ground.... if this was the case wouldnt the air or what ever you are using for thrust create a lot of pressure on the ground? a Few tons...? Just curious...
