Fry's to open first Contra Costa store in Concord
CONCORD - Concord looks forward to being the home of Fry's Electronics' first Contra Costa location. The company plans to open a 146,500 square foot store at 1695 Willow Pass Rd., in the old Levitz Furniture building in the Park & Shop Center.
Fry's Electronics is a large-scale electronics retail chain with locations in Fremont, Palo Alto and Sacramento. This is Fry's first store in Contra Costa County and is expected to draw local and regional customers.
The company plans to improve the interior and exterior of the existing building, as well as install new landscaping and parking lot lighting. Fry's plans to open the store in 2002.
"Fry's Electronics is a terrific addition to downtown Concord," says Jim Forsberg, Concord's Planning and Economic Development Director.
"This project will not only draw more people to the downtown area, but will also result in improvements to the back side of Park & Shop along Sutter and Market streets. Fry's joins Costco and Expo Design Center as the third major regional retailer to locate in Concord in the last two years."
The new store could generate as much as $1 million annually in sales tax revenue for the city.
