Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the heat of summer brings out the absolute worst in humanity? Or is humanity just a hopeless cause?

Last week I was reading an article about the growing problem of children being left alone in public libraries. Basically parents are using public libraries as free day care centers. The article was online and is no longer active, otherwise I'd link it here.

Then in today's Boston Globe there's a story about some poor soul who had the misfortune of suffering a heart attack on the MBTA's commuter train. The crew of the train, knowing the guy was having a heart attack, continued on and made TWO MORE STOPS before arriving at a station where paramedics were waiting. The man later died.

What is wrong with these people? How can there be so many bozos in the world?

What's really depressing is that this sort of thing, or worse, happens in every city every day of the year.

sad thing is, the crew wouldn't make that decision...
They would radio into a central office telling them whats going on, and the manager in nice air conditioning would say no make your stops he'll be fine

That's prolly true, but if you were driving the train would you stop the train, and help the guy, regaurdless of what HQ had to say. It's not like there's not another job somewhere. I'd say driving a train isn't that big of a carreer But a man only has one life.
