Drive Through Ranting....
Lunch today was Jack In The Box. Errrmmmm......YUK!
But what made it bad, instead of bland, is the manners of the customers. I guess they go to a fast-food place, not for price or convenience, but simply because they haven't the patience to wait elswhere for an actual meal. But today was "special."
Our local Jack has two entrances. It only has one drive through. As I drove in the front entrance, this LAMER in an Expedition drives in the side entrance.
Evidently, he was really really hungry, because when he saw me heading for the drive up line, he jumps on the gas across a crowded parking lot to beat me to the speaker.
absolutely no regard was shown for the pedestrians in the lot, let alone anyone who was trying to back out of a parking spot.
What the heck gets into people? |

This is the me generation.
You walking with your kids does not matter because it hinders my progress.
I do get peeved some times with pedestrians sometimes though. You yield the right of way to them and the just walk slowly by. I could have cut them off but I decided to let them go.
I was always told that when you cross in front of a car move quickly to be polite. Does any one know what polite is any more.

I feel your pain cadd! Quote: Originally posted by Epidemic You walking with your kids does not matter because it hinders my progress. | Hehe...just ask the last guy that knocked my son over in the mall how much his progress was hindered when he had to deal with me. Just to clarify that I wasn't the jerk, let me explain...
We were walking right next to each other about to round a corner when this guy comes speeding around the bend and walks right smack into Tyler, knocking him flat on his back (and a decent head banging)...this guy didn't apologize or even look back to see if he was alright. Oh no, that's not going to fly with me buddy! Anyway, I got right in his face and asked why he didn't stop (to put it nicely!) and his response was, "I'm in a hurry". Needless to say his "hurry" turned into a formal apology to Tyler with Dad keeping a close eye on things.
Heck, even when I say "good morning" or "how are you today" to people more than half of them ignore me...and darnit I'm a likeable guy and I certainly don't look threatening (look at my pics in the gallery). I could probably give 1,000 more examples of people being rude, but why waste the time...sorry for ranting so much in your thread cadd!
Mike

This is one good [RARE] example of a guy showing his appreciation...totally made me feel great! To make a long story short, he posted on another forum about needing help with his Voodoo3 drivers and Win XP...I researched, found a few websites, posted the sites for him...he didn't quite understand what to do so I offered to call & help...we ended up talking for over 3 1/2 hours (on my bill) while I walked him through the entire process and even helped him set up some things on Win XP. Here is an e-mail he sent to me recently afterward...he even commented on this thread's topic...American rudeness! Quote:
Mike,
In the newspaper & on T.V. there were articles
> reporting that Americans are back to being rude and
> unfriendly as ever. This was obviously done inlight

> you so willingly offered and the time you are taking
> to see if things work. Sorry about being cut off last
> night but I accidently hit "end call" and figured
> there was no reason to call back since we both needed
> to hit the sack.
| I think it was about 1:30am by the time we were through talking.
How wonderful I felt inside, I wish there were more people like him around... |

Different thread almost but..........( for Martoch's benefit )
I live in England, not far from London. I was born here. I travel into London regularly. I stumble around the pigs that frequent it, put up with their crass comments, get out of their obviosly hurried way, step over the crap they thow on the floor, and generally get on with my life in the "British Way ".
I holiday in New York, where the people make me feel safer, go out of their way to help, smile, use trashcans, clear up after their dogs, make small talk for the sake of it, offer me good deals on stuff because they can, don't laugh at my rollerblading skills, offer me so much food that I need to diet afterwards, and let me get married without all the fuss and ceremony associated with the UK.
I cried on 9/11. I support the measures taken. No one country is perfect, but 'The States' are better than most.
Accept that. Live with it. God Bless America.

CBB | Hehe...kind of ironic that you should say that. I'm in the United States Air Force!
I not only accept it, I support it fully and am willing to die for it's people...even the "not so nice" ones!
