Yeah, so I got bored and started doing searches on Dictionary.com and some other sites. Yeah, so I stumbled across some very interesting facts.
Well, everybody knows that Jello is made up mostly of gelatin (and sugar, of course). Well, there's this stuff called
blasting gelatin that is used as a high explosive.
Not the same chemical makeup as the gelatin in Jello, but whatever, it's still called gelatin. This stuff is a mixture of Nitroglycerine (C3H5N3O9) and nitrocellulose ("guncotton"). So, in theory, you could chemically alter your household gelatin to get it. But yeah, that'd be difficult. I just get it from my uncle (who works for NIST and gets to test fun stuff like this).
Very fun to play with in small amounts (though not reccommended if you live in the city). In large amounts, you have to stand back so far that you don't get to see the actual explosion, so it's not quite as pretty that way, but still fun.

(NOTE: You shouldn't use this type of thing without proper training and equipment.)
It's interesting what you learn when you get bored and go surfing on
Dictionary.com and this nifty site called
xrefer (a good information source).
Yeah, so post some weird and interesting things you've learned on the internet or wherever.

Later.
