9 workers still alive in PA mine

Nobody has mentioned this, but on Wednesday, miners in Western Pennsylvania cut into a another mine that was filled with water. The 9 miners that did not get out before the mine flooded had not been heard from since Thursday morning. Just an hour ago, a new 240 foot deep shaft has broken through into the area where the workers were last known to be, and apparently all are alive and well. Efforts to extract them through this new shaft is now underway.

I had serious doubts that they were still alive, but Miracles do still happen

I was on the telephone with an old friend (who is a miner in Virginia) when they finally broke though into the mine and heard the tapping on the drill bit. Needless to say, he was quite happy (and surprised) that they were still alive.

If anyone is interested, Fox news has been covering this no-stop since about an hour before they broke through into the mine. One miner has already been extracted....

I was surprised to hear they're all doing OK. I figured hypothermia would have set in long ago.

Hopefully the remaining 8 are out soon and back with their families.
