ABS breaks

I have a 1999 Ford WIndstar Lx with ABS breaks. The breaks continue to do the "self test" beyond the 10 mile per hour range that the manula states is normal. Does anyone know how to check these and repair them?

No idea, sorry man. But ABS systems are controlled by sensors and the car computer from what I understand (though I am mistaken quite often). I would take it to a garage and have them look at it. I would imagine your safety (and your family's?) is more than worth the cash.

I'm with Whir on this one for sure. If the brakes aren't self testing correctly there is a chance that they could fail when you really need them.

Get it checked !!!

Cant disagree with whir and crystal, get them checked, even though things like ABS brake systems usually fail safe.

you will have to take the vehicle in for service...but dont be worried you still have normal braking capacity...hopefully it's a wheel speed sensor going a little buggy...

Hi, I am also experiencing a recent ABS problem, since Mon. The lights came on, both for brakes and ABS. Took to shop. Brake pads, fluid and drums AOK. Problem with computersensor equipment. Cost $800 clams. Part $440. Google search on internet yields part price of 120, fixit guy says 240 to install. Some complications to work out still, but did order part. Am driving with lights on, suppose to be ok. Want it fixed asap.

So how did your situation work out?
