Anyone allergic to bees?

Is anyone else allergic to bees?

I was stung by a wasp on my left index finger Sunday afternoon while trimming the hedges. Within 12 hours my hand and arm swelled 10 times its size and became quite numb and very itchy. A trip to the doctors got me a shot of cortizone (rear end), A prescription of Allegra and a device called an EpiPen, which is an auto injecting needle I will have to jab in my leg if stung again. Nevertheless I get to keep one of these close by anytime I am engaged in any kind of activity that puts me near bees....

I am---I usually swell in the throat (anaphylactic shock) even if im stung on the bottom of my foot, gotta keep the Epi handy at all times, I get the same shock reaction from almost all anti-biotics for some reason---the last time I got stung was on the lip while riding my bike---my head was swollen like your arm---

Your hand and arm grew to 10x their original size???
WOW! Or did you mean that they grew to 10x the size of the bee?
In either case I'm glad you're alright!

I'm not allergic, but if I was I would probably be dead by now. I got stung 36 times within 30 seconds when I was 10 yrs old. It hurt like $%&*, but no swelling...just little dots where the stingers went in.

It's extremely common: many deaths in the US each year, far more than from snakebite. I'm moderately (I guess) allergic myself: a very small sting on my ring finger a few years ago, and I thought they'd have to cut the ring off; I didn't get it off fast enough, and in less than 30 seconds I couldn't get it off at all. Antihistamines kept the swelling down just enough to keep the circulation going for several days (I was in Italy at the time) until the effect went away.

Wow.... I don't think I'm allergic to anything....I could even wipe my behind with Poison Ivy and not see any reaction

I think my brother is highly allergic to bees though.

10x is a slight exageration but it was grossly swollen and unrecognizable as something that belonged on a human. Someone commented to me that it reminded them of a scene in "Shrek" where the animals were blown up like balloons.

Poison Ivy has put me in the hospital on more than one occasion. Wiping with it would definitley be the death of me.

Thanks...

My youngest son is alegrgic to wasps. He has to go to the hospital and get a shot to keep him from going into convultions. Last year, or the year before he drank from a 2liter bottle at the park that had been open for a little while, and a wasp had gotten itside, and it stung the roof of his mouth We had to rush him to the hospital and get a shot. Hew actually bit the epistick in half. We have to carry around a little epi kit for him now.
