Strange Phone Call...

Hello!
Well at dinner tonight a friend of mine (Paul) mentioned a phone call that he received yesterday that I thought was quite odd...here's how it went:

Paul: "Hello"
Caller: "Hello sir, I have a few questions I want to ask you if
that's ok"
Paul: "Sure, that's fine"
Caller: "Do you own a computer?"
Paul: "Yes ma'am"
Caller: "Do you use the internet?"
Paul: "Oh yeah"
Caller: "Are you familiar with any of the music downloading
websites such as Kazaa, Morepheus, WinMX, etc...
Paul "Um...yeah"
Caller: "Would you say you're VERY familiar with these sites, somewhat familiar, or not really too familiar at all?"
Paul: "Somewhat familiar"
Caller: "Have you ever downloaded any songs from these sites?"
Paul: "No, I've never tried that"
Caller: "Then I have no further questions, thank you very much"
...dialtone.

Is that weird or what? Any of you experience any calls like that?
I've heard that some company has a "sniffer" to track down people that are downloading music from P2P sites...but phone calls??? I wonder what would have happened if he admitted to the downloads.

What do you think?

Thanks!
Mike

Your friends name is Karl and he received the phone call? Who is Paul?
That is strange, who knows and who really cares what that is about.

HEY! I care enough to post it!
I corrected the name...I noticed the mistake after I posted. Karl is his son.

Some survey company has jumped on the P2P bandwagon and it making a killing with so-called surveys for the Hollywood moguls.

I doubt it means much of anything. Watch for the survey results soon, like:

Survey shows 98% of American households download illegal music!

Cheers

Yep! That's absolutely classic!

Now if Paul had given an affirmative answer, that caller would have gotten real interested....

Yes, the caller would have liked Paul a lot more.

I think that I never answer questions from strange ppl who call me on the phone.... that's how ppl get scammed and / or in trouble.

I've got call screening on my line...if the number doesn't show up on caller ID, they have to say who they are into a recording that I get to listen to before the call is connected...I have the option of accepting or denying the call. A few more $ a month, but well worth it to me!
