Outdoors Invoices: What should i do ?

I got two letters in the mail today from TIME and FORTUNE
telling me that i was overdue on a payment.

I never bought a subscription for either one of these great magazines
I orderd 3 free trial issues so why are they sending me invoice after invoice !??!?

What should i do ? are they just trying to make me pay so they can send more issues or do they really WANT me to pay because i bought something ? i dont understand

They have sent 6 letters during the past months but i just thought they asked me to continue my subscriptions

Here is a copy of the letter

Dear Mr.Fagerholm

Something is seriously wrong!

Your subscription to FORTUNE/TIME was processed several months ago. Since then you have received a number of notices requesting payment. According to our records, FORTUNE/TIME has recevied no payment from you.
Although they were glad to extend cretid when you asked to be billed, this debt cannot be carried indefinitely

While you may have overlooked payment , we must now insist upon IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF THE AMMOUT DUE as indicated ($45 and $43) With your payment pleace quote your customer number ***************

As soon as we receive payment your subscription of FORTUNE/TIME will be reinstated.

You may have had the type of deal where if you do NOT unsubscribe within a certain time period, or otherwise cancel a trial subscription according to their trial offer, they will assume you have authorized the subscription....

You might need to contact (phone) their customer service depts. to try to get out of it :

I usually just drop them back in the mail with "CANCEL" written in big bold letters right across them... Works for me...

Just say No..........to trial offers.

(especially free 30 days of credit protection)

I know "should've of, could've of, would've" doesn't matter now
but if ya did'nt want them you should have done something sooner, rather than wait for multiple invoices.

Have you tried contacting them by phone? maybe try and work something out.

That's right. In the U.S., if somebody sends you Unsolicited Goods, you not only have no obligation to pay for it, but you also have the right to keep it.

If you drop a card in the box for one of those "Free Trial Offers", then the understanding is, you'll accept the product, without obligation, to see if you want more.

Don't want more? Like the folks have said, you just write "CANCEL" across the invoice and send it back. End of story!
