You might look at Timkin or FAG (that's the name of the company!!!!!) who make the bearings. Since you probably don't need hardened steel you also might want to think about buckshot. You can get that at a sporting goods supply that sells reloading equipment. The 00 buckshot is about 1/3" in diameter. I haven't bought shot in a long time but I'm sure that it would be cheaper than hardened steel. BTW - do you have any idea how much that quantitiy of shot or bearings or whatever would weigh?

Good luck

I don't know where to buy actual industrial ball bearings....there wal-mart slingshot ammo that is about 2/3" diameter or so and comes in a pack of maybe 100. Other than that, I don't know if Ace Hardware or Home Depot would have a better substitute.

How many do you need and to fill what?

Hey that's a good idea
how about just a box of BB's .179 caliber i think..

just buy a big box of those suckers.. should have the same type of effect

buckshot might work also.. slink shot ammo? might work too.. basically just need some close to BB sized small round metal balls

steel, copper, as long as it's not soft.. and has a hair of heft to it..

what i'm going to fill is a 48oz (3lb) coffe can. It is kirkland from costco. Just your costco sized coffee ground can.

fill that thing up with BB's or something similar.. i imagine BB's will be much heavier than 3lb worth of coffee in that can.. not a biggie though.. i'm thinking it can hold maybe 5,000 bb's?

Crossland and Daisy BB's come in 1 pint milk cartons. You'll probably need 3 to full up the can.

That's gonna be pretty painful if the whole bunch land directly on his head rather than poor out........

Something to think about...you won't be able to pick up BBs with a magnet.
