Talk It finally came.....

Got my 12 ga. Mossberg 500 Persuader today

7+1 in the chamber, an optional pistol grip (rear end grip) came with it even though I didn't order that model ( )....not like I'd chose to break my wrist anyway....

Some ammo to experiment with:

#8 - flying things
#6 - jack of all trade ammo (squirrels, some birds)
#4 buck - racoons, skunks, etc.
00 buck - blowing stuff apart
Slugs - ditto on a larger scale

I've always respected and have been fascinated by the raw destructive power of the almighty shotgun....a movie can be made if they have a shotgun used in it

I've already shot up some dead trees and stones (@ range) with it....EVERYthing I expected and more. Sometime I'll take some pics of some inanimate damage *snickers*

I kinda sorta got used to the recoil (going from a .22 to a 12ga. can be challenging)....after some initial practice with dealing wiht the recoil, I was able to shoot the #6 in semi-auto style mode. The slugs still have quite the punch to it but it should be managable after I put this cheap slip on recoil pad on it (will get a better one along with some accessories when I have some more $$$)...regardless, that should be a lot better than the very hard piece of rubber that is on there now.

Some quick pics on my messy bed:

Hmmm - why, oh why, do they ship these things with handgrips??

Just asking for sawn off.
Might be just what the local muggers need under their coats.

Nice gun, warty, but keep it away from me unless I get a bear in the backyard or something.

Cheers
Mick

Yup the 00 buck shot will give ya a nice hurtin' in the arm too!
I remember I was a little kid, and I'd shot a .22 a few times, no big deal!!
Then everybody was like HEY you gotta try the 20 guage!! (mind you this 20 guage was about 15 years old and it KICKED like a mule lol) wellllll apparently I didn't hold it QUITE tight enough against my shoulder cause I had one HELL of a bruise on my arm for a week after that LOL
(was like 14 or something )

I wouldnt' dare try the 12 guage, the adults cried about that one kickin'

Wart's gonna shoot his eye out with the red ryder

lol vass

12ga., 20" barrel and 00 buck can be "exciting" to say the least.

mick - it's legal to have a pistol grip or folding stock on a pump shotgun but not a semi-auto....and illegal to have a barrel under 18". I believe the pistol grip lowers the length of 41" or so to around 29-30". Plenty easy enough to conceal in a coat, IMO. All we need is some insane kid to do THAT in a school, and no more pistol grips or folding stocks for shotguns (already is like that for rifles...).
