Systems HELP-MY VENUS IS DYING!

...and i dont know what to do. got a fly trap from wallyworld around a year ago. did great last summer and actually did good this winter too, when it was supposed to to dormant. now it looks like its on its way out. maybe its going dormant this summer instead of last winter?? anyone else have a flytrap? the directions said to give it no plant food or feed it burger or anything like that. its supposed to turn red when its really hungery,to attract more insects. i m ready to give it some plant food, but thought i d check with any green thumbs out there in TIMO land first.

this particular plant is supposed to be native to Georgia.

thanks everyone

brad

I don't know much about Fly traps, but here's a forum that you can visit that specializes in Fly Traps

Just curious about what it is planted in... My understanding is that these are wetland plants... I suggest a saturated or near saturated peat for the medium.

I bought a Venus flytrap last autumn but within a couple of months it had died. I kept it damp/wet and followed the instructions. The leaves started to go black in the end and died.

You shouldn't keep prodding the traps to make them close and I believe the correct medium to grow them in is sphagnum moss, not peat but I may be wrong.

I never saw any insects go near it (I put a dead fly in one of the traps) so there you go.
