Actually, it was a 43,000 square foot house!
Nope, didn't add an extra 0, 43,000 sq. feet.(just the main house!) total sq ft was like 75,000
Biggest home in Dallas, probably in the whole state, (I don't know if Micheal Dells pad is bigger or not.)
Cost to build..about 44 MILLION dollars
a few facts about it from the news today:
23 bedrooms
9 grand fireplaces
10 baths
68 a/c units
10,000 miles of wiring( that seems a lot but who knows.. )
16 car garage
indoor olympic size swimming pool
17,000 sq ft of wood floors
two bathtubs carved out of solid Italian marble
10,000 bottle wine cellar.
3,000 sq ft gatehouse.
One of contractor folks said the "hers" bathroom and closet was bigger than most peoples whole house.

What was strange is that it wasn't built for a specific person, but had a couple of intrested buyers. It has been under construction for about 5 years, and was only weeks away from completion.

It was a 6 alarm fire, started about 1 am today, and 24 pieces of fire equipment and 96 firefighters didn't get it under control till around 9 am.. CHA CHING!

On a side note, I was in our training centre last week, and we had a good fire in a penthouse apartment one of the nights. We have 35 recruits out in the training centre at the minute. I contacted the local news broadcasters and requested the film footage for training purposes. After all, we all know a picture speaks a million words.

I was told, we could buy the film footage for €69, and every minute that we showed would be charged at €230. Do the sums yourself, but the fire raged for three hours before being brought under control, then burnt for several more hours.

We are not using this for commercial gain. We are using this to train recruits how it happens on the fire ground. After all, these royalities that we are expected to pay to the broadcast company, we should be exempt from, if not then surely the guys on the fire ground are intitled to a percentage?

Justy, That seems to be load of BS. If you are using it for training purposes, I don't see why you should have to pay for it. If they are that worried about it, tell em you'll bring it back when you're done with it..

Is it a national broadcast company you're dealing with, or a local affillate? Might need to push this one up the ladder(no pun ) and see if you could get the footage on an exemption . Might be worth a call or letter on official letterhead to the network headquarters.
It's not like it's going on public exposition and your fire brigade is charging admission to the locals to come watch it.
I would be all for letting police/fire crews use any tape that would help them with training.

des, it is actually the national broadcast I was talking about. An indepentant sent me their footage ( taken by the same free lance girl ) I got what I wanted, and our guys would have paid for it, ~My problem was why should we? We are not using it for commericial gain?

Ps.The girl that gave me the footage from the independant ( TV3 ) is very cool! and hot !!!!!!!
