Zyban - Anyone has tried it?

I am trying to quit smoking and got a prescription from my Doc about Zyban. I have been smoking for about 8 years now. Not too heavily (smoking at all is bad enough) about a pack every two days. I am 31 y/o.

I have heard alot of mixed results from it and from another site that there is a chance of sezures in 1-1000 people who have taken the stuff to quit smoking.

Reason 1 for me to quit is high blood pressure but also to get my lungs back in working order.

So has anyone been on the medication and experience any wierd side effects like vivid dreams, shakyness etc?

Did it work for you?

I will be taking my first pill tomorrow morning.

Good luck!

I quit cold turkey after 13 years. I had finally had it and I just put them down. I still want one today and it has been 18 months since my last one. You can do it! I suggest as much help as you can get.

One key is, exercise! I gained quite a bit of weight after I quit.

You can do it!
Dave

My dad quit cold turkey right after I was born 16 years ago. He decided it was time to quit after smoking for about 10 years and he stopped.

actually, the first time i quit 2 years ago lol...i used it for a short time and it seems pretty good for a couple days...it gives you an uneasy feeling that is multiplied when you smoke..i guess thats what it's suppose to do...but then comes the gas...LOTS of gas..twisting and churning you so bad that you'll soon stop taking them...i still have the rest of mine... but hey ..might not happen to you....give em a try and dont look back... after a few days it gets a little better anyhow ..

A member of my family takes Welbutrin which is similar. She has no side effects and has been taking it for a while.

Ck out what asprin has done to people...

If you're concerned about it use the patch.

There are adverse reactions to any medication..

actually the combo of the patch and zyban was found to be the most effective in one study I read.

I used zyban alone. I did not notice anything different. normal day like you took your vitamin's

the key to quitting is " you have to want to." If you don't want to quit you will fail.(even if you do want to quit it may not happen the first time.) Just don't stop trying to quit.

smoke free for over 3 year's(i smoked for 15+)

Not similar to Wellbutrin; it's the same drug. It's a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, like Prozac and Zoloft, and it's an antidepression drug.

A lot of drugs whose use patents are expiring are being rebranded for new uses; Prozac is now being marketed as an anti-PMS drug under a new name -- Sarafem.

The new names are partly to overcome resistance to the notion that SSRIs are for people "mental problems".
