Tips on cheap accomodation in paris needed

I'm going to stay in paris overnight on august 20-21
and i need a cheap place to live.

Most hotels in paris want €75-100 for a room
and i'm not ready to spend that kind of money for a hotelroom
we have several hotels here in sweden that only charge €25 for a room and i'm looking for something in that price range in paris
i've found http://www.luckyyouth.com/default.htm a sort of youthhostel that charges €24/n but you need to book for 2days
that makes a total of €48. Iguess i could stay for 2days but that would prolly make a huge hole in my €800 budget considering i would need to buy food and stuff like that and nothing is cheap in paris.

Does anyone know some place in paris that's cheap ?!?
i dont care about the quality or service i just want a cheap room for a night before i'm off to holland.

Check Cheap Sleeps in Paris by Sandra Gustafson. Also Guide du Routard for Paris (in French, but hey, you're gonna stay in Paris, right?).

I stayed at the Grand Hotel des Balcons, on the Rue Casimir Delavigne (right near the Odeon, in the 6eme) -- very reasonable -- but that was years ago. I also stayed at the Passy Eiffel (16eme) more recently, but they tend to keep things open for government agency types visiting the OECD.

The Cite Universitaire is the "dorm" area of Paris near the outskirts and a park. Two stops on Metro--back when--to Central Paris. Probably suburbs have outgrown it.

Is a little self-contained "town", with Infirmary.Has various National Houses , such as Maison Des Etats-Unis etc. can be booked by month. Don't know about week.

Summer-- many vacances.

Cheap eats in "Maison Internationale" , built by a Rockerfeller. related to one here in NYC.

In Montreal, I would do the same at McGill University.

DOOOOOOOOOG

WHHOOOOOPS ! DK about day !

Hotel De La Sorbonne
We stayed there for over a week on our honeymoon in November. We were looking to save money on the hotel and spend more money on the town. The rooms are nice. Anything in that area is fairly cheap (~$55/night...this wa sa conversion from Franc which had an exchange rate of about $1=7.5/7.8 francs). I think it was in Arrondisment 5...

Our room overlooked the street that ran between the hotel and the Sorbonne.

It is one block from an internet cafe where they do online gaming. We went there about every other night to check email. While we were there, an airbus crashed in Queens, NY. We thought it might be terrorism, so we needed to get some english news. Very nice. Walking distance from the Luxembourg Gardens.

Can't remember the place we stayed at on the last night of our trip. We came back into Paris from the Loire valley and needed a place to stay near the car rental place. This was in Arrondisment 15, I believe. Cheap, but it was a hole in the wall. (There was NOTHING available!)

Not sure what road (rue ) it was on. I remember looking for that on the map, but don't think that was the one we found.
