Washington DC Fireworks!

SWEET!!

Lasted about 20-25 minutes so not too bad
VERY nice assortment!

Started out kinda bland, but rounded out very nicely towards the end
They even had some ones I hadn't seen before! (not a hard thing to do, not exactly a conisseur(sp?) of fireworks!
They had a firework hahaha
They had stars (maybe 50? dunno didn't count lol but thought maybe representative) then they had a couple long bar white and red ones! So ASSUMING they were trying to represent the flag...

They even had peace symbols

The grand finale could of used some work, but I imagine if you were down there right on the lawn the concussions would of been great

I was suprised everytime I thought they were going to start the grand finale they kept going!!

Sorry no pics don't own a camera and cameras aren't allowed in the building hahaha
Although VERY grateful I didn't have to sit out on the DC mall like everybody else TOOO hot... just walked to the north side of the building and watched!

Although there was the ever present idiot on the cell phone grrrr

Anyways.. very nice, I was impressed

How were your shows?!?!

Certianly not the best we have had here, actually FAR from the best. We left early. The sad part is they said this year was by far the most expensive, and had the most mortars. Problem is they were ALL the same color. Oh well. It was only a 5 minute walk from my door.

bah....local......lmao...been there done that, chose NOT to get the t-shirt this year

Was switching between NYC's and Boston's on TV.....good stuff. They played the National Anthem....very powerful....

Quote:
Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
And in the third verse, a single line stands out -
Quote:
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
Then they played Amazing Grace on bagpipes....all I could think of was of the fallen men and women on 9/11...

I watched two at the same time. I live in the foothills of the White Mtns. so there are plenty great vantage points with awesome views. One was about two miles away and the other was about 6-7 miles away. Kinda like watching a tennis match though. lol
They both lasted about 20 minutes, and were pretty good.

Did anyone see the making of the D.C. fireworks? This is the first year all the launching is done entirely by laptop. The laptop is wired into some system in the fireworks setup, and then certain fireworks are launched at certain intervals. Very interesting...

lol Wart I like Leslie Nielsons version too!
And the bombs in the air..

Cool Xpert didn't know that
They were reall well timed, and no more than a 5 second silence time in the whole show

I enjoyed them, just got back, took my 7yr old down to see them. This year, I just felt I had to go - did the Smithsonians and the zoo. We had a great time.
