A Muslim - Jewish men's double team at Wimbledon...

Watching tennis and hoping to see Henman win at Wimbledon, I saw an interview with a men's double team. The Pakistani player was saying how his Government wanted him to stop playing with his double partner - who happens to be Jewish. It was either keep on playing with his Israeli partner or not play in the Davis Cup. From what I have heard is that he is Pakistan's best tennis player and that he was going to continue playing tennis with his current player and forget his dream of playing for his country.

IMO, Religion and Politics shouldn't interfer with Sports. Why can't people just let him play a sport that he loves. The Jews see this as a hope for peace with a Muslim and Jew playing together on the same side. Whereas, the Muslims are condeming it. It kinda tells you who wants peace and who doesn't.

sorry didn't mean to sterotype and I admit that it is one of my flaws. I was rasied in London so most of my friends where Hindi, Sikhs, and Muslims, so if I have offended some people, I'm sorry. What I should have written was that the Pakistani Government is so against this harmless pairing...what are they afraid off?? That their best tennis player would be influenced by the beliefs of a Jew?? Comeon, why condemn and ban him from playing tennis just because your one and only best tennis player chose an Israeli for his partner. They are a pretty good team making it to the 3rd round by defeating the 11th seed but losing to the 7th seed.

Hey, CM, lighten up. You don't have to react everytime someone says something one-sided. Sometimes silence is very loud, particulary when a blatantly unjustified statement is made.
