Fossett completes solo circumnavigation

http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/07/02/fos...oon/index.html

Pretty impressive, except for the small detail that he never crossed the equator.

Hmmmm,

Now here is something that will improve humanity.

Too much time,

Too much money.

No Life.

Epidemic,

Of little ambition...

This was one the few records left to claim.

Both Scott and Amudsen were well funded to mark the Sth pole.
One did, and one died...

Mr Fossett has to land this bird yet.

The Pioneers of Aviation were always well funded.

Just as the Space program, cost the US heaps.

Congrats. To the bloke.

My best wishes to him, to get it down!

Another Mountain climbed!

Impressive but probably would not have been a reality if he tried any routes above or near the equator that cross any land mass. Trying a flight path through some of the more unstable places in the world today would have made him an easy target. I remember some of the other attempts where he or maybe that Virgin Records guy was not granted rights to travel through some airspace but I guess you can get blown off course into enemy territory and live dangerously.
