How long do you look for something ??
Before you replace it?
I'm going nuts! I can't find my drill! I've ripped the house apart. I think I'm just going to break down and buy another. Grrrrrr..
I've been casually looking for it for about a month... But I need to hang the new blinds I got! | |

Well, since a year wasn't an option, I had to pick something else. Actually it depends on how badly I need the thing that's missing. If it's toilet paper, probably not long at all... (In keeping with this forum's recent obsession with TP) |

Funny you mentioned losing a drill. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the poll.
I misplaced mine one day...after about 30 minutes, I said screw it, and went and bought another one.
Sure enough, I found it 2 days later. I liked my new one alot better and decided to keep it.

Until I find it, then it's not lost anymore.
Ok, someone had to say it.
Kind of like "It's always in the last place you look." Who keeps looking once you find what you're looking for.

Depends on the item.
I'm always losing garden clippers and buying a replacement, then finding the lost pair. When you need them, you need them. A lost cutting board, well, I know that'll show up sooner or later, and I've got several, so I never replace it.
A book -- depends on how badly I want to read it. I took Oliver Sacks's Uncle Tungsten to work with me -- I was halfway through with it -- shortly after Christmas, when I got it as a present, and lost it. It's gotta be here somewhere, but I'll probably wind up buying it in the trade paperback edition. But not yet.

I don't lose thing too often.....although my big folding knife fell out of my pocket once....figured it was in the reclining chair I was sitting in (happened other times), so I feel all around teh cushion, lift up the chair, no dice.....a little while later I try to recline the chair and it gets stuck...."daddddddddd!"...he looks into the insides of it and sees my knife jamming the mechanisms in there . BUT that was close...if it hadn't jammed anything I would have never found it.
If that happened, I would have replaced it with another knife within a month.

I had a tv remote disappear for over a year. I had searched every possible location in the house that it might be hiding. One day it simply showed itself. I think it had been hiding with those stray socks and inkpens.
