Hotmail @ it again

Hey all. I just sent my friend to hotmail to get an account there so he could use it for e-mail and MSN mesanger service. He went and signed up and every thing was peachy till he got in. He was greeted with a LARGE picture saying you have to pay to activate the account was the basic jist of it. sadly I didnt think of taking a print screen of it. But for any one new to computers it came accross that you had to pay for the service now After reading the page of so i noticed that the botom in fine print saying there was an option available for a 2MB account that is free. noticed they waited till the very end and in micro print to tell you. Also 2MB? I thought it used to be a tad more then that Oh well. Sorry to rant. Just makes me mad as it seems like they are just trying to get people to subscribe so they get more money.

Hmmmm,

That is amazing a company that wants to make money.

Will the wonders never cease.

I do not get it. Why do you find this to be offensive. Do you work for free. If you owned a business wouldn't you like to see your higher end service purchased. Or would you rather they go bankrupt and not provide any free service.

If you will not work for free why should they. Why do people expect businesses to be completely benevolent if they would not do it themselves. They have huge servers tons of bandwidth and people to pay.

And the 2mb limit has been there a looooong time.

Hotmail used to be great. Now it stinks more and more. I still use it tho. Until I find a better alternative.

I only get 7mb at my paid ISP account. 15 bucks unlimited dialup connection,1 e-mail account, and 5mb webspace. 2mb for free isn't that bad. I use Hotmail more than my ISP b/c I can check it anywhere.
I really don't see how they can offer free services period, would I, prolly not,I like money too.

I use www.hushmail.com for web based mail.

It only offers 2 meg as standard but does provide free encryption, digital signing & other similar stuff.

Regards

Its not the fact that You have to pay for it. I have a Registered account that is paid for. Its they way they come accross it. I imagine there are some people out there who will probly get online write their kids once a week or less and be paying for stuff they wont use. I just wish they didnt try to hide the fact there is a free option.

They hide it so they can make money.

The free option is bait for you to come to their site.

Just like sales at the stores usually they hope you will come in and buy more or they hope they will run out and you will impulse buy since you are there anyway.

My question is why does this bother people.

Do you want your boss to know that you would probably work for a little less money. He was going to give you a raise but you should tell him that you are willing to work for less money.

I would not work for less money, it would be illegal. Minimum Wage is hard to go underneath unless i sign approval in which case I would go work at burger King for minimum and probly have a easyer job. I would like to see a few Hounest companies. To bad they would probly go out of bussiness in this world I have been shielded by the world of the US Army for any part of my live that would be effected by competition. Here at the Commasary there is no compition. Other then the German econamy which is much more expensive. So they are upfront about things and tell you about sales and hand out coupons more then a week befor they expire. oh well.
