Any good ice cream recipes?

Well, we're all getting together for July 4th, and I thought it would be nice to resurrect my old hand-cranked ice cream maker and give everybody a treat....and my recipe for chocolate ice cream is nowhere to be seen...

I did a Google search, but dunno if any of what I saw is any good...anybody here have a good recipe?

Thanks....

Oh, and if you have one, I'd really appreciate hearing about it soon. I need to start tomorrow afternoon, as there's gonna be a lotta folks. Thanks...

Chocalate powder, thick cream, sugar. Mix in blender. Freeze for 45 minutes. Re-blend. Add almonds & chocolate pieces. Freeze till solid.

Sinfully rich.

Does it matter the flavor? I can get you my Grandma's Vanilla recipe if you would like. Well, try to, my step-mom seems to be hard to reach right now.

1 gl Whole Milk
1 can condensed milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla Flavoring
1-2 cups sugar [to taste]

Fruit may vary;
6-8 very ripe banannas
6-9 dead ripe peaches
1 Qt very ripe strawberries [maximum sugar]
2 cans Pineapple
1 Pint of Chocolate

To make the mixure 'richer' beat up a couple or three eggs with milk, heat on the stove till a low boil occurs, stir in the juice of 2 lemons. This is the best time to disolve the sugar.

Only experience will tell you the correct taste prior to freezing, sugar is the part that must be in the correct amount. Too much or too little won't taste right.
The fruit has maximum bearing on the amount of sugar. Strawberries tend to need the most to offset their natural tartness.
Banannas need the least.

A hand cranked freezer is the only way to go. )

I think so...last time I made it, I recall melting chocolate pieces in the double-boiler...plus, the ratio of cream to the other ingredients was pretty critical.

I need a recipe.... methinks Shahani cooks intuitively! Most of the time, I do too, but...

I got 48 people to make ice cream for, and I don't wanna screw it up!

Shoot, next year, I'm gonna volunteer for BBQ duty. At least I know what I'm doing, there....

I wiah i could help but my mother got angry at our ice cream maker and killed it!

Anyway i think the only icecream we made was mango flavored

Maybe a sorbet would be easier? i have no idea though i have never made sorbet.

Okay, heres my Grandmas vanilla one, even though you said you wanted Chocolate.

This is a little rich, but its REALLY good.

3 cups sugar
7 eggs
1 pinch of salt
4t. Vanilla
4 pints whipping cream
-or-
2 Qts. half and half
Fill to line in cylinder with Whole Milk.

Jer

EDIT->Another sub. for the whipping cream is 4 scoops of regular vanilla ice cream. But it is the best with the whipping cream.
