Ther's an extra Fire Engine at station #1 tonight.

Yes theres is an extra engine but it will answer no call's. She carried many hero's to there last call.

As it travels to california engine 152 from NY stopped here overnight. Traveling with it were a couple beams from the twisted wreakage of the WTC. It arrived here around 3:30 this afternoon and was escorted in by engine company #1 of the Springfield fire dept.

When I got off work at midnight I decided to go and have a look. I thought I would be able to just go and look at it like any other wrecked vehicle. That was not to be. Seeing the truck and the twisted metal plus the thought of how many people died and the brave crew that gave there lives trying to help others brought tear's to my eye's. Even at midnight there were still around 30 people there with more coming and going. candles and flower's left buy people paying there last respects to those who lost ther lives. (I would imagine there were large crowd's of people when it arrived.)

They will be stopping at many cities as they cross the country watch for them, and go see it if you get a chance.

One thing I really did not like though was seeing how the fire dept emblem's had been defaced.(it's obvious that it did not happen when it was burried.) plus someone spray painting "queens new york" in gold paint on the truck. I would really liked to have seen the truck as is. I hope they replace the emblems (dirty them up to match, but put them back.)

The men and women of the emergency services worldwide put their lives at risk daily to protect us and our property, it is a shame that there had to be such a major disaster to bring this to the attention of the population.
There are many branches of emergency service, fire, police, ambulance, mountain rescue, lifeboat and probably others, we should be thankful for them all, all of the time.
