Pledge of Allegiance ruled unconstitutional

The San Fransisco, CA court of appeals has just ruled the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional on grounds of being religious. Leave it to CA...

*sigh* It was inevitable. But the good thing is they most likely will deem currency unnacceptable for tax payments. After all, it does have "In God We Trust" on it and violates separation of church and state.

Here's a link.

Grrrrrrrrr......

San Francisco should fall off into the ocean!
I wouldn't even miss the Rice-a-Roni.

Where's a good solid earthquake when you really want one?

Seems unlikely that the decision will stand, based on earlier US Supreme Court decisions in this area. For example,
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/script...s/370/421.html
In this case, even though the Court decided that
Quote:
Because of the prohibition of the First Amendment against the enactment of any law "respecting an establishment of religion," which is made applicable to the States by the Fourteenth Amendment, state officials may not compose an official state prayer and require that it be recited in the public schools of the State at the beginning of each school day - even if the prayer is denominationally neutral and pupils who wish to do so may remain silent or be excused from the room while the prayer is being recited.
Justice Douglas's concurring opinion still cited the Pledge of Allegiance as permissible.

Another reason to leave the People's Republik of Kalifornia.
Over taxation, overzealous law enforcement, smog-nazi regulation, overinflated housing costs, congestion, energy issues, etc. Piece by piece, our rights are being chipped away at. There's a point where you have to say 'screw the great weather'.
