All Tech problem

If you are traveling in a Yugo at the speed of light or Just a tad under it for the believers of relativity flawlessness. Then you turn on your head lights.

1) since nothing can exceed the speed of light would the light collect on the lense.
Now if you put on your brakes and stopped instantly. Other then having a serious case of G sickness would the collected light in the lense of your headlight shoot out like a pulse cannon.

2) would it come out at approximately twice the speed of light.

Would you be able to see your halogens reflecting off of the planets you pass by.

3) would it come out like a 50 cal round on an f16 and shortly be overtaken by you.

Now if you take this YUGO and accelerate in excess of the speed of light would you leave a trail of light behind you.

I knew Yugo's had some function in life now you do as well!

I think the transmission would fail before you even got it out of the driveway.

laymens guess is if light only goes one speed (does it?) under any circumstances...thennnn...#1?

Warthog

PS - F-16s don't use .50 cal...20mm

FYI:

Einstein said that something like that started him thinking along the lines that led him to the Theory of Relativity.

When he was about sixteen, he started wondering whether, if he was inside a sealed room that was moving at the speed of light, would he be able to see himself in a mirror?

The Michelson-Morley experiment
http://www.nobel.se/physics/educatio...eriment-1.html
proved that the answer was not only "yes", but that if you were inside such a room, there would be no effects from your point of view that would let you know that you were moving at all.

Explaining this weird result was what led to the Special Theory of Relativity.

PS:

He couldn't use a Yugo for the experiment because the rearview mirror would already have fallen off.

i dunno, it might work. i once read a darwin award about a guy who strapped a rocket engine to the top of his yugo and ended up splattered against a canyon wall several miles away after just a few seconds.

But in that sealed room the light is therefore moving in excess of the speed of light and furthermore if he walked by the mirror he to would be exceeding the speed of light with out his mass becoming infinite.

Nope:

Within the room, the light is moving at the speed of light (298,000 km/sec) as measured by the occupant -- and an outside observer, measuring the speed of light emanating from the room gets exactly the same result -- 298,000 km/sec.

That's what's so weird.

Originel:

You'd need a rocket to get the Yugo to move at any speed.

It's not that light moves at different speeds. It's that time is different for observers moving at different velocities.

That's the part that freaks everyone out.
