WTC bombing after-effects

Besides the fact that so many were killed in a truly tragic events, what happened after 9-11-01 really took the country down to new lows. First WTC and Pentagon collector's items were being sold on ebay. Then, any movie, game or what-have-you containing any images of the WTC were pulled out of production for reasons of "sensitivity". That, I find sickening. OK, we all know the towers existed and do not anymore, are we going to pretend that they were never there? In a way, the terrorists have won. Then we have the so-called "war on terror". I would take Bush over Gore any day to deal with this crisis, but the things he does make me very angry. I know to some extent his hands are tied. He keeps telling us that those who perpetrated this act "will be brought to justice". What exactly does that mean? He tells us it's not a war on Islam, but the terrorists claim to be the "Islamic Jihad"... whatever. So now we're at war with someone we don't know, way to afraid to tread on anyone's toes. We tie Israel's hands behind their backs when all you see on the news are suicide bombings. Oh wait, now they're called homicide bombings... OK. Well we already know foreign policy is a mess but just look at what's going on in this country. Now we see an explosion of American flags, bumper stickers, hats, shirts, license plate trims. Where were these before 9-11? Want to help the country out a little? Stop using heroin. We have Rumsfeld telling us that terrorists WILL get their hands on a nuclear device sometime in the future and WILL detonate it. We have a bunch of three letter agencies who cant process information within themselves, let alone share it. Remember the dead bomber who got his pilot's license? Sure, terrorists will set of deadly bombs in high population areas, but go to your restaurants, watch your movies, pay your taxes, keep the economy strong for the rest of us, it makes balancing the budget easier. Remeber the goverment collects money when you die too. All 21 terrorists were Arabs. We know we can't search EVERYONE, but if 21 Arabs blow up thousands of people, God forbid you would suspect them. No, we can't do that, that's racial profiling. We have Arab women complaining about having to remove their veils and such while in airports. Since when did flying become a constitutional right? Airlines are privately owned and when you decide to fly on that privately owned jet, you agree to the terms of the airline. I don't care what your religious beliefs are, I believe in staying alive, and if your feelings are hurt, well you're better off than dead. So how many days do you keep a flag sticker on your car after a tragic bombing anyway?

That statement is hard to follow, no matter who says it....just with Bush the likely hood that it will come true is far greater than, say, if slick Willy was in charge *shudder*

lol that should be a bumper sticker

How did you get that information? CNN? *hates media* The media is present anywhere where their might be controversy or a scandal....bah.

I agree that patriotism did become "popular" after 9/11.....maybe some people woke up and realized how proud of their country they really are.........maybe some decided they just needed to support their country in time of need...who knows.

Anyway I'm not one for laying blame on this agency or that....all I want is whatever problems they have, fix them.

PS - maybe you should have put [rant] [/rant] around your thread

Thanks Wolf, but Bob, funny how it wasn't important to us how women in Afganistan lived BEFORE 9-11? It's killing two birds with one stone at best. What I don't like is Bush telling us that we need to "cooperate" in the fight against terror which means that we need to forfeit some of our constitutional rights. If we start to infringe upon the constitution in times of "need", the constitution is nothing but a piece of paper. Last time I checked, there wasn't any fine print at the bottom.

ALOHA Solid Snake
Personally it still doesn't matter a lot to Me that the Afgan women had to cover their heads and bury their TVs!
There are a lot of Bad people and many problems in the world and I don't want to send the Special Forces everywhere to play God!
I was merely stating the changes that were positive per the string "WTC bombing after-effects"!
Always side affects and sometimes Good ones Too.

I must have Missed that speach, when did George say"we need to forfeit some of our constitutional rights"?!?!
Please state some examples of infringment of the constitution on USA Citizens that you are talking about?

I am VERY PARANOID about infringing on MY FREEDOMS But the only losses I have seen so far were from Democrats LONG before 911!!
Ex:Taking away Right to Bear Arms!!!!!!!

The Patriot Bill did have me nervous at first as I thought it allowed UnWarranted access to personel web traffic legally with out cause particularly roadrunner!
This turned out to be False Alarm and what the bill actually did was to allow the tapping of specific peoples www info just as if it were a telephone and with court order.
It seems the law was written before the WWW and the FBI etc had no way to legally cover it.

As for NON US CITIZENS I don't think they deserve USA Constitution protection until they have earned USA citizenship!

If you think we can release suspected terrorists on bail than you haven't been watching the news much these days!
Once they are found out and released they WILL have no choice But to do what al Q boys do!Kill somebody until they are killed and get those virgins that are waiting for them!

I have a Constitutional Right to live as long as possible without being Blown up by Religous Crazies!

-It is now much easier for FBI to search and seize, they do not need as many warrants as they used to.

-It is not unnessary to tell airline passengers that they can refuse frisking.

-Surveillance measures have been increased both online and on the phone.

I didn't know it took the FBI more than 1 warrant to accomplish a search and seize before 911!
As long as they continue to NEED at least 1 warrant that shows some just cause I see NO problem so far.

Not totally sure what this means but I'll try~Sounds like we can refuse to be frisked at airports?
Not on MY FLIGHT!! You can get on a plane that has 100% no frisking,no metal detectors,no sleeping government security guards if You Like!~Me,I want to bring back Good Old PROFILING!!Not that Nasty Racial kind just that good old home grow All over Profiling!!

Check your laws~they still need a warrant with the exception of Public Libraries!
Thats fine with me!I don't pay my tax dollars so some Homeless guy can get off at the library surfing porn sites and more worse is using MY TAX Dollars to check in with the Al Q network at the local library!!

The least we can do is make the Al Q boys pay for their own Dialup\RR service as they try to Blow us up!!

Speaking of Shredding the Constitution:
How about the liberal 9th curcuit cailf judge that declared the Pledge of Allegiance Un Constitutional!!!
Rrrriippppp.....Thanks Bill&Al

On the + side did you hear Yaser suddenly announced elections in january~Seems a little tank sitting on his lawn blowing holes in the wall next to his Ear told him to do that Praise Al Somebody!!!

And the dice of life continue to ROLL..................

lol...

Have to agree with knothead.

IMO, "profiling" can be confused with "instinct" and "statistics". Gotta love the fine lines.
