Does the media avoid defensive uses of handguns?

You look at a NRA news letter and you read of hundreds of citizens wasting bad guys. These stories are sensational and as such worthy of news stories I would think.

Stories like the little old lady who's house is invaded and they beat her husband to near death, during the maleigh she manages to get the the drawer and off one and injure the other assailant. I would think that such stories would be worth advertising hence worth reporting. Yet you are lucky if one makes it to primetime a year per channel.

Is this fair and unbiased media coverage.

Yes the media is ANTI-GUN....They dont want to show how many times each and everyday a LEGAL and LAWFUL citizen uses a firearm to protect themselves and or others

I would think the whole under-dog thing would be worth the revenue. To know a preditor got it would be great. I would devote 10 minutes per show to such stories.

Easy to see the media bias that is rampant in this area. This story was also highlighted in the America's First Freedom magazine.

The NRA VP was at a small conference with my wife this past weekend. It was a women's leadership conference. The NRA VP (a woman) told several stories of how bias was shown towards her counterparts in the interview debates. On such "interview" had the NRA VP down the hall, 20 feet away, in a plain room by herself with a camera and said she was "live via satelite". The Million Mom Marcher was in a comfy chair with Andrea Mitchell, the "interviewer". The MMMer had been briefed on the interview and told what questions were going to be asked, while the NRA VP was ambushed cold with no preping. She told several other stories of blatant and crass bias by the media.

CNN and MSNBC are the most corrupt brainwashing tools the US has to offer. This is sick and the peopel in charge should be brought to justice and jailed for spreading such lies.

I obviously cant comment of the stories in the US press, but it is a universal maxim in jounalism

"never let the facts get in the way of a good story"

They will write whatever their editor/owner thinks will sell most papers, period.

I agree.

I have a severe dislike of the news media.

Here is another example of being biased:

Graham ,

I guess I disagree with you a bit... They do not always put the story that will sell the most papers. There is also an agenda. I mean tell me that 90 year old woman taking out 4 would be rapists and saving her husbands lives is not news worthy. Yet they will not take such an sensational story to the cover or to primetime.

Epidemic the story you mentioned would make the local papers. But it would be in small print on one of the pages most people wouldn't read. The only way it would make anywhere near the head lines would be if they charged someone for a crime for the use of a firearm.
The local TV news probably wouldn't touch it. Unless someone was charged for a firearm related arrest.
