Is that feature ONLY used for wicked bad he-shouldn't-have-posted-that stuff? Because - before I realized I could do it myself - I almost used it to have a mod change a spelling error in my thread title.

What is the protocol? --> ANYthing that requires a mod to fix?

Reason:

This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

We would appreciate this feature to be limited to the above reason because notification is sent to all mods and admins immediately. This is a "Hot Line" of sorts, and the first mod to get there usually handles these situations ASAP or locks the thread pending consultation with another mod(s). Additional discussion among the mods is usually required so that everyone is clear on why the thread was reported, and what moderation (if any) took place.

**edit** Mods encourage, and infact enjoy recieving PM's and emails from members for both forum related issues and general conversation. Moderators simply have the abiltity to edit/delete posts when necessary, we're no different than any other member, with the exception of a few additional forum options enabled in our TechIMO window.

There has been a claim made that one member was asked not to contact the mods personally. THIS IS SIMPLY UNTRUE! Said member was asked not to continually harrass the mods and admins with the same complaint over and over again after the mods had already clarifed their position.

I would agree 100% with the above. on any of my PM's to mods, they have always been quickly answered...

I think someone did ask this question before, but I never really considered that members don't recieve instructions about when it's appropriate to use that feature unless they actually click the link.

BTW Wart, you're off my list of favorite members since you decided to change your title.
