45054 miles is not quite as far as I thought it should go.

I was in heavy traffic pulled off into the exit lane went to accelerate from about 15 to 30 mph and kapow bang rattle rattle bang bang rattle smoke billowing from under the hood.

Me thinks the Connecting rod snapped. Fleet service arived and now I am home less one 2001 jeep cherokee.

I have alway hated jeeps.

The Mileage when the transmission blew was 2000 miles.

45054 was alot better than the tranny ehh!!!

That's miserable!
I knew that Jeep was having trouble with some of their engines.
Seems like the oil pump pickup tube came loose or something.
Then they lost oil pressure.
Spun the bearings.
Broke rods.
Blew holes through the block.
All kinds of bad stuff.

Still, be glad you didn't buy the Hundai SantaFe.
A lot of those blew up in the first 1000 miles.
One only went 12 miles, according to reports.
The steel cylinder sleeves slipped down and hit the crank.
At freeway speeds.
You can just imagine what that sounded like.

Sounds to me like you got a Friday Jeep. Assembled when everybody was thinking about what they were going to do when they got outta work.
