went down to the local sheriffs office today to apply for a permit. filled out the paperwork,took a little test,and waited for my "rap" sheet to come back over computer. and waited. and waited...ditto...left and came back...then went home and i get a call from the sheriffs office saying that they cant runn it anymore today and that they will run it thru tomorrow.

now i know my past is slightly checkered,like a drunk driving,and a silly cultivation charge in denver 30 some years ago(

and i was printed each time. but does it take this long to get something back,presumably from the FBI?? maybe the govt computers need an upgrade!!LOL

Just getting a renewal here can take months. A new application requires testimonials, authority to contact your doctor, visits from the firearms officer to check the cabinet (and, though they dont say it the, "situation" at home).
Wait a day and think yourself lucky !!

A new application in Utah can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months. It somewhat depends on how many places you have lived, have a armed forces record ect. The more places you have lived the longer it takes unless you have had a goverment background check before that covered the time frames of the other living places. Why? cause they end up checking those local police records as some backwater towns dont input records into the state's crime databases.

?????????????????? thought they were completely banned in the Uk except for hunt clubs and such. Maybe for 007 as well.

Mtnsnow - what does being in the armed forces have to do with it? Will that make it go through faster? Because I want to buy a handgun when I'm 21 and will have been or be in the military.
