Southwest airlines now charging overweight people for 2 airline seats

And it's about time, makes good common sense, and increases comfort for all. If you've even flown coach next to someone spilling over into your seat and unable to get the armrest down, this is a godsend. Maybe they should have a sample seat template at the ticket counter like they do to measure carry-on baggage.

Or maybe just make you stand on the same weight thing they use for luggage when you check in.

Yep, and they should charge passengers by the pound too.

Why should I pay the same to fly as a 350 lb. lardo, when I only weigh 190?

And I should get a discount, because I'm only 5' 5" -- need less legroom. Oh, I forgot: they already cut the legroom to my size or less.

I never really understood why they weigh check-in luggage but not passengers to make sure the aircraft is within weight and balance limits. I guess they have a default full-cabin passenger weight amount they use in calculation. The really big boys and girls would ideally sit over the wings at the center of gravity, but those are emergency exit rows if you get my meaning.

If they charged per pound, you might as well be air cargo in the hold.

Well now Nick has to do a special on calling people lardo.

I agree with The two seat thing. But I man how Un PC of them. I was smashed up against a window seat once. I saw it comming a mile away. this fellar who barely fit down the Isle was heading closer and closer. he stopped next to me put his brief case in the overhead. Then he sat down, There was an unusual amount of male to male contact there. I don't have anything against him. At least after he stood up I didn't. But it was not fair that I had to be so uncompfortable Sitting on the runway for 55 minutes at O'Hare. But the Fat cracks are not right people.

To paraphrase Bill Cosby:

...and so do the people sitting next to them!"

lol sounds like a good idea, after all a heavier person requires the plain to carry more fuel

I actually once was on a small commuter turboprop (flying from Atlanta to Greenville, SC) where they weighed the passengers -- not to charge extra but so they could balance the load. Made me feel a bit dubious about the proposition.
