This morning I was watching a program on Discovery Channel on the history of the Palestine-Israeli conflict. They showed a shot of the White House where Middle East leaders had gone to meet with President Jimmy Carter. What struck me was that there was no fence around the WH. People could just walk to the lawns from the street.
I would be surprised if this story is true. It makes no sense for them to make nukes. They are protected by ours through NATO. There seems to be no reason for them to do this.

Does anyone else think that we could do better things with our money than pay to build nukes, pay to take them to bits and pay to build new ones again?
Hmmmmm..... Politicians......

No.
What about the after guy? Oh, that's better! I can ride a bike again!
The higher the production the lower the cost per unit. Due to the reduced R&D. heck Great Britan could probably produce these things for about 100,000 dollars a megaton.
Well although it seems to make no sense it is apparently true. according to all the links I can find. And what might be considered credible links.
Doesn't the Nuclear non-profileration treaty apply here?
Oh, yeah, thats right. The treaty's only for the Third World who would go out of control with these weapons. Not like the responsible NATO countries.
My opinion: No country should have nukes because no country needs them nor is any country responsible enough to stockpile them. This deterrent excuse is just that- an excuse.
You really believe that they are not a deterant. If America were the only one with nuclear capability we might have used them again.
Do you believe that there are countries that are less responsible than America either through deed or instability. We have nukes but there is little if any likelyhood that we would use them again unless fired upon. Can you say the same about the middle eastern countries that seek nukes.
I would like to see a reduction in stockpiles. I would think that we should only have enough to blow the world up three times. not 20.
Seriously I believe that once the nuclear genie is out one must keep a few of them for deterrant value as long as there is not a cold war.
If the US were to give up their stockpile I think that eventually we would become the target of a nation. Right now the deterrent value is little of none because we are not at war with nations but psycos. Hard to nuke a rag tag group of psyco's without declaring war on a nation.
