21 Gig BackUp Folder? Where did it all come from?

The Topic says it all- I just had to post this as I was shocked! I have a home network comprising of 4-6 comps (yea, it fluctuates depending on what I am doing... hehe) mostly for Learning and breaking things and UD Crunching. Only 2 of these really get used- My main system and a secondary system... the others are strictly cows. Anyways- on my SecSystem, I have an Install folder where I keep all pertinant install programs even after I have installed them... and some are not installed but I think I will someday... LOL. I used to burn to cd with these programs but then always had to burn more as updates came out (I find it easier to delete old and dl new). I decided it was time to do a backup of that folder to another machine (a cow) as I am getting ready to put a new OS on the SecSystem and that is when I realized it was 21 gigs! (Reasons I do this- I transfer it across teh NetWork, do a Install then transfer it back to load programs. I install other stuff- Mostly ShareWare or Free to other comps across my NetWork like OS's and the such). I went through it meticuously trying to find stuff to delete- but couldnt find anything I was willing to get rid of... LOL. Dang this thing is huge- AnyOne else a PackRat of Programs?

Nope- No MP3's or G's.

LOL.

LOL - It adds up quick dont it.

It is sad that even though we have Cd burners with blank media costing almost nothing, we still save all of our downloads on our drives. Just wait. In time terrabyte drives will be common in our systems and we will likely have those filled to near capacity...

Know what you mean. I used to copy all my install CDs to a Setup folder to make it easier to install and without having to take out each CD. believe me, my setup folder is more than yours.

Thanks for reminding. Gotta clean it up- stuff like demo copies of mcAfee 4 and Eacy Cd 3- this stuff is like old photographs - you hate to trash it. But makes no sense to keep WFW 3.11!!
