SIGHT ALIGNMENT SIGHT ALIGNMENT..

SIGHT ALIGNMENT!!!!!

that was driven in my wifes head as she was learning how to shoot a handgun. she tried to qualify at work(prison) and failed. she was massivly bummed to say the least. a friend who is real good with hand guns took us out to the shooting range this morning. she started with a .22 pistol. there are many factors about shooting i had no idea, like stance, how you hold the gun,how tight you hold it,correctly pulling the trigger so as not to pull to one side, etc.

anyway, after mark helped her for about an hour with proper procedures, she shot with a .45 at a silloutte target of a torso.

unbelievably,for her anyhow,she blew a 4" hole,center of body mass.

it amazes me what just a bit of proper instruction and practice will do.

today was the second time she`s ever shot a handgun.

happiness reigns at draboo`s houshold once again!!

after today,i have a feeling we`ll be getting one no matter what i say

a .22,maybe a ruger pistol. after some practice,i have a hunch the next one will be a glock 10-22(.40 cal). thats the model she uses at work.

when she was an officer, she had to qualify with a mini-14. anyway, theres one of those in the cabinet now,so i can speculate that we`ll be gettin a glock real soon too.

geez, hope she doesnt have to shoot manymore kinds of guns,we`ll havta buy a larger cabinet

Congrats on your new found proficiency Ms Draboo

Remember that practice and familiarity with your weapon are critical if you ever "need" to use your weapon.

Absolutely. There is no such thing as "too much practice".

The moment when you might have to employ a weapon (and I hope that never happens to you,) you'll have so much going on in your head and nerves, the last thing you'd need is any tiny uncertainty in handling it.

Besides, target practice is fun! Plus, it gets you out of the house, and gives you both some enjoyable competition!

(Note to Brad....don't put your ego on the line with it, though...I have noticed the women, when they start getting good at it, tend to get REALLY good...Annie Oakley was no freak of nature! )

I think it is a good idea to go to the range once a months or so to keep proficient. My wife especially. i would hate for something to happen and be injured because we were not prepared/ not wel versed in handling our guns.

Glad everything turned out well. I hope she gets a second chance at qualification.

Best of luck
Dave

thanks, dave. yes,she gets one if not two more chances, but not for awhile, which is good,so as to allow for more time for practice

as far as a range goes,we are fortunate enough to have enough land to set up our own,up to about 75 yards.

Glad to her she has another chance to qualify, and that she took to it well after some proper instruction.
Congrats
