US to send troops to India-Pakistan

Here we go again with more US involvement where they really have no business:

Sad. Just more soldiers will get killed by militants and for what ultimate purpose other than political?

Well I think that everyone knew it would happen.. This situation between these two is very dangerous, sure the chance of nuclear attack is slim..
They both have a lot of hatred for one another, and both are willing to shoot each other, who knows what could happen.

I do not think that the two sides need US help, or anyones help for that matter. They are both in the position to protect and control their own borders effectively. I am sure both sides have the man-power and the resources.

The question is, are they prepared to make the commitments?
and
Are they going to make a serious effort to solve the Kashmir problem?

One day they will realise that the answers to both questions can only be 'Yes'.

How much time that will take, and at what cost, I do not know.

If the US doesn't go in to help difuse the situation, who will? Noone else is stepping up and the threat of nuclear war is very real. This could affect all of the countires around the world. If there was ever a time for the US to step up, now is the time. I know they have fought over this little strip of land for decades, if no longer. I doubt we can "solve" the problem. I believe it is beyond that because most int hat region are beyond reason. they have been fighting for so long, they fight for fighting's sake. We just need to go in and try to diffuse the situation as much as possilbe and hope for the best.

I think it was interesting in that article that they were asking for help officially as 'for help from the Al Quaeda' however by the way the article is written that is not a real problem.. just the 'official' reason.

I really dont see how putting in US military will help defuse any nuclear talks, to me it would seem only to flare them up even more. If you think about it.. pakistan is going to see that the US is coming in to help India.. well . I don't know about you, when I see street fights and somebody brings in a friend.. the other guy gets PRETTY pissed! Its not a 'fair' fight anymore.
So what do they do? They go and get a friend
Hopefully its not their trusty friend nuke

Yes I noticed that too, from the looks of this article, one assumes that the US is choosing sides and offering only one side help, how that is supposed to diffuse the conflict I would not know.

The US forces should go in as a neutral force or not all, anything else would keep the conflict going.

I think a good idea would be to tell both sides that they will be placed under grave sanctions if they do not solve the problem within lets say 2 years.

That would mean to them no money, no weapons, no technology and no support in any way. It would also become a threat to their internal security and integrity, hopefully reasons that would push them to wrap this whole mess up quickly.
