I would *think* welding goggles would be ok, seeing as they are designed to block out ultra violet light.
Don't quote me on that though

never saw welding "goggles", just a hood. goggles are usually used with a cutting torch,and are not nearly dark enough. if you look thru them in the daylight,you shouldnt be able to see anything unless you look at the sun. cutting goggles you will be able to see a bit.

Welding goggles are safe IF you stack the filters up to a shade of #14, no less !
