I have pirated before but Ultimately if I kept the game I have bought it.

I stopped doing that when they came out with demo copies.

I am sadly too honest to try and avoid the fact that the only two peices of software i have ever bought is Half-Life an tribes two.

BTW: dudes in aus, i'm looking to sell Tribes two. Of coarse you could always pirate it but you would have alot of trouble playing Online and thats the main idea

I pirated during college like many others, but it was because I was a poor student. Everyone else said the same thing. Now that I can afford the software, I buy it, and I threw out all of my piratred cds and replaced them with retail copies. Funny how all those people who were too poor then still want to pirate. I guess they were looking for an excuse and liked mine They figure that I am still willing to "go in" on a game or the like, but I guess they forget that writing code is how I put food on the table... why would I try to deprive some one else of the same thing?

At least you realize that it is wrong.

do you think if you were not coding for a living now you would still pirate... Or did you have the realization that you did not make it and therefore you have to pay if you need or want it.

I believe there is a significant difference between copying a piece of software and taking a video from a drop off bin.

While there may be legal issues against copy software, I dont believe it is immorral or sinful.

You can not compare the two...

I disagree jman01pa... software is the product of someone elses time and work, just like a movie or video is.

Just because stealing software is easier than stealing physical property doesn't mean it doesn't have the same type of impact on the person or company that fails to get paid for their product or service.

I dont advocate piracy, I just dont believe it is on the same level as stealing a movie from a video collection bin.
