Systems I learm the hard way

This year me and my wife decided to maintain our pool ourselfs vers. pay the pool company here in town $210 a month to keep it all clean and everything. Well I learned the wrong way to change out the line filter in the pumphouse today I shut the breaker off for the pump and the place where the bug filter goes in at is like a 18" x 10" sealed door, well I figured with the pump shut down all I had to do was remove the 8 bolts holding the door on and pull it out(wrong) as soon as I got all but 1 bolt out it started gussing water and I mean hard. My wife was laughing her @ss off and here I am trying to figure out how to stop the water and I find the control cut-off valve pulled it down and guess what the water stopped. I think I only lost about 300-400 gal of water(pump house was about 4" deep with water)but that water aint cheap. I didn't even think that the water would run out like that but it does, maybe some type of siffon effect. Man am I glad thats over now.

Just think, at the end of summer you will look back and be glad for the extra savings..................... or, Next summer when the pool man comes, you will have a glass of cold IcedTea ready for him. Hehe.

Great Job!

Ahh pool dilemmas. Good for you wanting to save that 210/mo. Wow that money could be used for alot of other things. I have some help with my pond, otherwise I'd be in ur shoes!!!!!

A friend of mine had a 'Biotop' built in his garden. It is a self maintaining and cleaning biological pool. (Not sure what its called in English).

My pool was put in in 1959 and was the first personal pool in townsville (home town).

It leaks like anything!
