What do you do when you need time to think?

When you really need time to think seriously, and do it alone, what do you do? Where do you go? I'm curious.

For a long car ride

Driving. No music, no phone. Preferably somewhere with no traffic.

Sometimes... take a long hot shower or bath

Other times... find some "mindless routine work" (like mowing the grass )


Just sitting still, and alone, doesn't help me regardless of any environment I've tried.

For me, motorcycle. Through the mountains. Far away from any distractions (the thinking is, they have to catch me, first! )

A favorite of women, I've noticed through the years, is a bath. Any time of day. I used to think women were just cleanliness-minded, but I finally twigged--it's the great Chick Trick! That's where women go when they just want to be alone!

Basically though, any place where you won't be distracted.

Log into a good FPS server and blow people away for a couple hours.
Actually that may not be the best for thinking, but it does help me burn of stress and im usually able to think more clearly after the fact than I am before.

I sit down on my bed with a guitar and just play for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours . . . . . . . that is when I get my best practice in and when I get all my important thinking done! -Jon

I have seen you shoot you should have plenty of time to think while you are doing all that respawning.

I go to the fish pond and toss some floating food at the coi.

I used to try to think while reloading my 44 magnum shells. But when a particularly hot round went off and the gun left tracks on my head I decided that I should pay attention to my powder measuring and bullet seating.

But you can't get away that easily. You though no one would notice. You nevers said where you go.
