I caught 2 Baby Rabbits today :)

While mowing one of the pastures at Mom's house with the tractor, I saw 3 little rabbits running around.

I shut down the machine and captured 2 of them that were too near the area to be cut.

Little rabbits are the most beautiful of creatures for sure

These were about 4" long, just weaned from the mother, one of them squirmed and clawed, attempting to escape for several minutes as I walked over to the neighbors house to show him.
The other gave up quickly, figuring there was no reason to fight I guess

Gorgeous animals.

It's too bad that rabbits are getting rare around here because of the coyotes that the damm fox hunters brought here to train their dogs.

The Coyote has wiped out almost all the ground dwelling creatures including the Quail. The also get cats and small dogs

Anyway, I slowed the mower to a crawl after rooting around in the rabbit's nest, finding no more I finished up leaving a small section of 4' high grass for them to hide in

Call me silly, but I never knew their were a lot of coyotes in Georgia, enough to kill off a lot of rabbits and Quails...

**HUGE GRIN**

Doc, you are definitely one of God's loving children.

Heheheheheeeee.... Love them little critters...

I remember the post about "What makes you happy?", and you replied about a cat on your chest, purrin' up a scene akin to a well-tuned racecar on the Bonneville salt flats...or something like that...anyways, obviously a happy critter, sitting on the chest of a sweet person. Blessings.

I live in an area where the wildlife has been excluded on a regular basis for years, I grew up here but concrete has prevailed for quite some time---I recently purchased an off-road bike to get back into some areas that still are home to many animals I grew up with---it may be a fleeting moment for me that I appreciate 100% each time I can get out as I know it wont be available for long...

Ack!! Please don't!! Run you furry cute little creatures, RUN!! :P

Thank god you didn't run over them!! That woulda been an ugly scene I would never want to witness first hand

I've a pet bunny as well, cutest and kindest darn thing ever. They just love the attention and love for you to pet them.

What are you going to do with the two that you caught? I'm sure they would love to go back to their mother

They were released immediately away from the area that I was mowing.

Luckily, I've never run over any fawns or rabbits..

I did hit a black racer last year, gladly I saw another about a month later, it was curled up sleeping next to the pond and didn't wake up when I walked up within a few feet.

Umm not sure if rabbits are like birds, but I know some animals if they smell humans on their babies they'll ditch the babies... leaving them stranded
Hope the little buggers come out ok
Love watching wildlife... although living in the urban jungle all I get to see are the dreaded ricers, and deadly lowriders
I do get to see a squirrel here and there though
In the center court at work, we have a few mallards that hang out
