OEM Auto Shop Manuals

Hey, just wondering where any of you have bought shop manuals for your vehicles in the past, if you ever have done so?

I've looked through chilton's before, but I just don't like them. I like Haynes, but for some strange reason they don't cover either vehicle (91 honda prelude, 2000 mazda protege) I'm searching for now.
I figure the manufacturer's shop manual would be tons better than either of these anyway. Anybody ever bought one from somewhere other than a dealership?

I doubt a manuf. manual would be any better, IMO.

You can buy them anywhere.....amazon.com

I have a Bentley manual for my '86 BMW

I buy the factory service manuals for all the vehicles that I own.

Reason is that quality service is hard to come by and I do almost all my own service.

Granted I only buy GM vehicles now (I used to work for Nissan) so I don't know what all these folks offer. Anyway these are the real McCoy of Vehicle Service Manuals. Cost is up there too, for my Vette a stack of 3 books was about $125.00, my P/U was $150.00

I'll try to get ya a phone number, I'm looking at my receipt now and there's not one on it.
The original place I got the info was in the owners manual of my cars in the back. There I found a phone number but don't have the time to retrieve it now, gotta run. )

Hey, thanks. I was about to order from that site a couple of days ago but figured I'd check to see what others have done before.
I couldn't find the mazda book there but they sell books for honda. I'll have to take docs tip (which I guess I should have thought of already) and take a look in the back of my owner's manual.

Just curious Doc, is there a reason you would not drive a nissan? Problems with the cars or the company? Just curious, don't feel you have to answer.

OK, get ready.

Great motors, generally, better IMHO than the other Japanese car companies. Poor quality sheet metal, ever see what happens when a Grand Am and a Japanese car of the same size collide ? The GM car wins, almost all the time.
Repair costs.
The parts for Japanese cars here in the States are about 2 to 10 times the cost of GM parts.

Rustability, the Japanese cars rust out far quicker.

Late, again..
