Kids Job Networking

I'm currently in the military (Navy), I've been doing network security for the past 4 years and don't think the Navy is for me. I'm currently serving as the Firewall/Intrusion Detection Team Leader for my department. I've got experience with Unix/OpenBSD/BSDi/Solaris 7&8/Windows NT and 2000. I've worked with Timesteps VPN and Cisco's Pix (Configured/Managed/Troubleshoot) Firewall also. I'm also the Cisco Router/Switch Administrator. Even though I don't have my certification I have over 4 years hands on experience. I also have a TS/ SCI clearance I'm looking for business/career contacts. If anyone know's anyone, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What company do you work for, I'm very serious in finding some serious contacts. I've only got about 9 months left in military and it's getting kinda of scary. Thanks for the reply.

Maybe you can apply for a U.S. government or agency related job. I don't know how long you have been in the military but you can leverage that time in if you stay with a federal job.

Defense Consulting jobs or working as a DOD civilian might put to use some of the systems you might have been involved with.

What part of the country do you plan on coming home to? I hope you are working on a resume or have one already. You can hook up with tech headhunters (job recruiters) to at least get you experience with interviewing. Switching to corporate or civilian life is different, I've been there. There are several computer magazines that have classified job listings. Try the career center column in www.nwfusion.com. Any certifications?

Good luck!

Heya,
I myself work for DoD as a contractor and its not too bad...
Look around the Wash DC area tons of gov't contractors such as Lockheed Martin, and such.. I work for a pretty small company but us along with a few other contractors run a BIG network
DC has a lot of jobs available if you have a TS or even a Secret Clearance
