Talk Race Results

Some of you people may know I have a passion for motocross (and motorsports in general) and that I frequently race with my family and friends for fun and kicks.

Today was one of those days of racing. For those who are interested here's a report from our day of racing.

We set out to start around Lunchtime, the location for the racing: A field next to my uncle's house.

We were about 15 riders there, all different ages and sizes of bikes.

The track was layed out very good and could be divided into two parts: one fast part with two fast turns leading into the very long starting straight where the bike could be maxed out only to break hard into a ~160 degree turn, and then into a little slower technical part with many hard turns and some small hills.

We did three heats, and the first start didn't go well for me at all. In fact, I couldn't get my bike to start and was exhausted trying so I was left out from that heat all together. It was a bit irritating, in fact I was quite mad for a while but I got my act together and focused on the next heat.

The second heat (and the first full heat, since the first was kind of interrupted by my problems) did go much better for me. I was 4th away from the finishline and took 3rd place in the first turn. Only my uncle (1st place, noone hardly ever beats him) and his coworker, both riding Honda 500cc bikes were ahead of me. With me riding a 250cc I was pretty pleased to be able to stay with at least one of them. My uncle pulled away from us, and I raced as hard as I could to stay with the 2nd place holder and take him over if he made a mistake. It payed off as he after a few laps breaked too late in the turn after the long straight and I could take him over on the inside. I managed to keep him behind me for the rest of the heat and was very pleased with my second place.

In the third heat I once more got away as 4th in the start with my dad, my brother-in-law and my uncle's coworker/friend in front of me and my uncle(now racing my cousin's 125cc Suzuki) right behind me. I got up in 3rd after my dad and the coworker ahead of me when my dad suddenly lost traction in a turn and went down in front of the other guy who had to break. It was no serious crash or anything, just a mistake that got me 1st place with my uncle on the 125cc chasing me. I didn't think I was going to be able to hold him off for the entire heat, but I was determined to try. I gave it all I had and I actually did it! I came in 1st and was totally worn out. If my uncle had raced his own 500c in that heat I'd been 2nd instead, but I didn't think I was going to keep him behind me even with him on that 125cc.

All in all I had a really good day racing, and I am sure my body will be aching tomorrow, but who cares? I even got some money I didn't think I'd get today. My weekend was made.

Actually, it's not that bad. The worst is my hands are sore...they ache when I I clench (?) my fists (so I don't do that ). I thought it was gonna be worse but I think I might be getting in shape actually. I ride at least once every week for like 2 hours. It's quite a workout really, some people don't think it's that tough to ride a motorbike around, but it is.
