I used to have a dingo many years ago, had to give her up when my second child was born, Found her a GREAT home with a older semi retired farm worker. With two kids in two I could no longer give her the attention or the lifesylte she required before my son was born.

Dingos are high on energy, they need room to run and a ton of attention and excersise. If you are looking for more a laid back dog a dingo would not be the right choice.

If you are serious about getting a dog in your life. its best to sit down and figure out the life style you have, how active and such and then find a breed that will suit that lifestyle.

I agree with NeoStar on carefully choosing what type of dog to get.

back to topic...My Dad has had both Dingo's and BlueHealers on the ranch and they both where great companions for my father. They helped on the ranch with the cattle and were very protective of my father's stuff. I would bet you I could put a hundred dollor bill on the tailgate of the pickup and go in the store and come back an hour later and that 100 bucks would still be on the tailgate! But I have pictures of my kids just mauling "SOB" (hehe I still chuckle at S.O.B's name ) and "Freckles" and they would just let them do it...never growling or nipping at them.

In short, They love to "range" and "work" and love personal attention (but then I think all dogs need and want attention). Very loyal but can be agressive towards "new unknowns".

Hmmmm..I think Rabbits should be imported to Australia as da Dingos have no fun with nobody to play with. Bunnies would make good companions as they tend to run--FAST. Especially with a Dingo, around. In no time at all, Aus. should have its share of Bunnies. Thank Hugh Hefner.
