Almost a squashed geekgrl
I almost became a non-existent/squashed geekgrl on my way to work this morning. My shakes are just now going away.
I was driving along to work on this road that is three lane on each side. I was in my middle lane because my north ramp was coming up soon... and the lane in the far right was going on to a ramp going south rather than north. The traffic was bumper to bumper, and I was surrounded by cars. A semi-truck was in the right lane by me. I suppose he realized this was a ramp going south, because he started to inch over into my lane. I saw him and I started to panic. I was watching him inch over, ready to squash me, and thinking about what I was going to do.
Next thing I do is look in front of me, and I'm getting ready to bang into a truck in front of me, because the traffic had came to a complete stop. I can't do anything accept slam on my brakes.
My steering wheel locked up, my brakes locked up, and my car wasn't doing anything I was trying to make it do. Then finally, I manage to steer myself off the road onto the side, almost into a grassy area. You could hear my car squealing, and you could smell my brakes cooking.
When my car finally came to a stop, the first thing I did was ask myself if I was sure I was alive. Next thing was to wonder if I had been hit.
I hadn't been. Thankfully, the car behind me saw everything that was going on with the truck and had slowed down .... no car was behind me, and I think that's why I'm not a sandwich right now.
I was shaky all morning.
