Thats a shame, because where I live is pretty friendly. It's not like some small Hicktown where everyone knows everyone, but overall is a nice place to live.

The reason that I will stay in the area is the climate; I love how every three months you have a defined season. I mean, if I were to live in Arizona or something I would get tired of the heat, and I would long for snow in the wintertime.

Maybe you should just move to southeast Pennsylvania like me.

When I first moved into where I am at now it was not so bad. Since then the people and neighborhood have gone to crap.

Example 1 - I have lived in my house for 10 years. In that time we have had 17 bikes, 4 sleds, 3 scooters, 1 pedal go cart, and numerous toys stolen out of our back yard. Only one was recovered becasue my son went and found the person who stole it. When the cops went to get it back the kid said to the cop, " well I put a brand new brake cable on the bike how do I get my money back"
I now sit outside with a bike a bait and wait for the little SOB to try and steal this one.

Example 2 - My neighbors have a dog that keeps biting at peoples heels. Well the dog bit everyone in my family except me. When I told him about the dog biting people and that he needs to do something about it he got mad at me. He is now mad at me because I told him that if he does not do something about his dog biting people, I will. I told him that the next time that I hear or see of his dog biting people I was going to call Animal Control, the Cops and the SPCA. He stated that the dog was a puppy and it was only nipping at people.

I think if I would live in a place other than York it would be diff.
I have been to your neck of the woods a few times when I worked for Rosenburger cold storage. Gotta say that it is very nice in that area and the smaller towns would be great. Although my dream house is one where I can go to the bathroom off of the back porch and not have to worry about the neighbors saying anyting because they are a few hundered yards away.

People in Philly eat hoagies but we drink soda, not pop (one of the reasons Pittsburgh shouldn't be considered part of PA).

Dear Osprey4
Please do not start a war between East & West Pa. if you wish to drink soda, that is o.k. with us Pittsburghers that do not drink Iron City beer. Some of us prefer Rolling Rock or pop or pure mountain spring water.

Dear Korgul i can not understand you let so many things get stolen out of your yard.Get a 'RedNose"American(pit) Bull Terrier~ these 40 lb. dogs are very friendly to most people , but if someone crosses them ~ look out~ they also are very DETERMINED and finish what they start...but the public/media percieves them as "vicious" and will not walk over to pet them.....
i know a place for you to live if rich or retired, but if you go to work every day it may be impractical.
Cammal, Pa. in Tioga County on SR414..... Population approx 45 + a few bears. population increases during winter for deer/bear hunting as there are a few hunting cabins in area, and in summer as their is rafting on Pine Creek further north
Williamsport is south about 1 hour, may be some jobs there..Next town north is Wellsboro..people actually say hello to you on the street and most do not lock their doors at night. the country store is open on weekends,so you must stockpile groceries as you MOST LIKELY will get 'snowed~in" in the winter time.

The thing with my area is that the punks from the city come up the alley looking in yards for things to steal. My youngest left his bike in the yard for 15 min to come in and get a drink. In that time it was stolen. Yes things get stolen out of my yard, I do not let them get stolen. I do what I can to protect my property but the punks and the cops do not give a rats @ss about my stuff. A baseball bat and a hedge row is all I need right now to dispens my own justice. The last time a cop was at the house for a stolen bike I asked him how to make a citizens arrest. His reply was there is no such thing as a citizens arrest. He also said that I can use what ever force necessary ( within reason) to detain the person until the police arrive.

Getting a dog is out of the question let alone a pitbull. I can not stand dogs. If I were to get a dog it would be like having another kid. I have 3 already and do not need anymore.

Dear Korgul I am sorry you do not like dogs:
yes they are like kids as you have to train them, actually more work than kids/children as you should take outdoors for pee & poop, but then you have to pick it up.
It appears that you live in a very bad part of town or in a rotten town
I sincerely hope yu can solve your problems somehow
