What A Waste
I went to the filling station this morning, got gas,a drink and the road was blocked by a Coke truck, so I pulled around the side and went down the alley which leads behind the local computer store. Going past the dumpster I noticed a case side sticking up, and curioius as I am by nature, I stopped to check it out. What do you know the whole case is there.
Intel Pentium 2 ATX Mid tower, complete with faceplate, 250 watt PSU,both sides, and in decent condition. I figure I have a good starting place for a cheap ATX machine, and it was FREE! I don't like to see people waste things that can be used, and I was going to buy a new case for another machine anyway, maybe I will just buy a PSU instead.

Anyone else find things like this? Don't tell me I'm the only packrat here.

Im a packrat also... I picked up an old electric/mechanical cash register a while back.... almost gave me a hernia...

Man that sucker was heavy...

Our very first computer was found in quite the same manner. A friend worked as a maintance man for an apartment complex, and when one of the people moving out, left the majority of a 486 system behind. We put aprox 200-300 dollars into it, and we had our first system!

Dumpster diving can be very beneficial. I used to be management at a couple of apt. complexes and my wife got sick of me bringing treasures home from abandoned apts.

Legally here the contents of the skip (dumpster) belong to the skip owner, at no time does it belong to no body. Therefore it is theft.

Believe it or not, where I work they have the security cameras trained continuously on the skips.
