Did StarWars get overshadowed by SpiderMan???

Is it just me or did Star Wars kinda get pushed away a little because of all the Spider Man hype? Spider-Man is breaking every single record known to the movie industry and it still keeps on going. I thought the movie was amazing But here's Star Wars now with what I thought a MUCH bigger fan base but do I really hear that much about how great it is? Noooo. Heck....I've read reviews on the movie (and I NEVER believe them because everyone likes different things...cant expect to know whether I like a movie or not till I see it) and they say its good but its nothing new. Weird weird

In some ways I feel bad for the star wars peepz because of it. Maybe they never thought spiderman was gonna do so well.

Not sure why they did it. Spiderman was sold out at every time in all 3 theaters here on this side of SA. That is over 8000 tickets on opening night.

Star wars was showing in the same theater on 5 screens and only sold out one show.

Granted it was on a Thursday and we have the whole weekend ahead, I think Spidey's gambit was a smart one.

Haven't seen SW yet but I gotta say Spiderman was one of the best action films that I've seen in a long time. Totally loved it

Lucas knows about SM. That's why he required the theatres to have SW in their biggest room for 2 months.

Every showing for SW last night was either sold out or very full. The 6:30 showing sold out, and the 7:30 which I went to sold out. They had to come in and tell everyone to crunch together and not to leave any empty 1 or 2 seats so that the remainding ticket holders would have a place to sit next to each other. I think it will hold up after the weekend very well against Spiderman.

Yeah, I don't know why Star Wars opened on a Thursday, but Lucas and his crew do know what they are doing business wise. We'll just have to see what happens...

Toby McGuire got $3 mil for the movie. $20 mil guarantee for the sequal that starts filming the in the spring of 2003. And just bought a $3.7 mil house.
