Man, my school has done it this time.
I dont know what i'm gonna do but it has to be FELT by the school. They've constantly picked up on TINY little things i've done like not having my shirt tucked in (a little corner of my shirt behind me that i can't even see) and having the words "Mearns Academy" on my webpage among other pansy things.
Now they cancelled a subject I NEEDED to take so i could stay at school next year TWO WEEKS AGO without even telling me so I could sort it out before all the places in other classes were taken. This is normally resolved immediately but because the depute rector hates me (and believe me, he DOES) he WITH-HELD this information from me so i can't sort it out in time. And I didn't even find out from him! i asked the Tech-Studies teacher about the class and he said it was cancelled this year.
WHEN DID THE DEPUTE RECTOR INTEND ON TELLING ME THIS???? HE HANDLES ALL THIS STUFF SO WHEN EXACTLY DID HE INTEND ON BREAKING ME HIS GOOD NEWS WITH THE SMUG GRIN I KNOW HE'LL BE BEARING.
Considering that I need to stay on next year to do enough Highers to get into University, and now i CANT stay on, what should I do? Is there anything other than getting the parents to write in to the school (which they're doing) that will have any serious impact that will make something happen?
I'm currently VERY upset at the whole ordeal and I feel i'm due a very sincere apology from the school AT THE VERY LEAST.

Well, over here parents are a large part of the school....after all, it is taxpayers money. Whenever my parents have intervened for whatever reason, the teacher/principles are always accepting and nice
In a situation like that, my parents would be talking to the Superintendent (basically the head of all the schools in the district, makes the big mongo decisions)....who would then hopefully clear the situation up with the Principle......if this guy is the Deputy, wouldn't that mean there is a rector/principle higher up?

Lemonhead,
I assume the school system in Scotland is still pretty much the same as Engalnd, if so complain to the school governers, and the local education authority, with luck they will find you a place in another school to take the course. Get the local press involved, local papers and TV ("ruining your education" stance), this will also get the school bad press, which they certainly dont want.
Dont let them win, get your course, when you do, demand a public apology fron the deputy Rector, get that publised ("see I was right" stance)
best of British

Hmmmm.......
Never seen anything that bad. Then agian, all my schools are and were pretty good. Talk to your folks and tell them of your predicament. In the US, not sure where u live, guessing scotland, information can't be just withheld like that. With yoour parents on your side, you should be able to figure out what to do about that rector. Have your folks talk to his superiors, as both graham and wart have mentioned. No sense going to the school if the head-honcho there won't help you. If this guy's superior won't help you, hire a lawyer.....

That's a pain, Lemon, but if your parents do what others have suggested about the school board or authority or whatever it is, you should be fine. Denying someone an opportunity for education out of spite is not on the agenda of most school authorities, so hopefully it will be cleared up quickly. May mean a compromise by you (eg taking class at another school, or summer school), but if you are serious about University you shouldn't baulk at this.
Good luck mate
Cheers
Mick

Or you could just get a photo of the Deputy Rector having sex with a goat. Wave that under his nose & see how fast he can fix things.
I'm sure that one of the guys here has PhotoShop & maybe PowerGoo. That oughta suffice to "work something up" |

Talk to the University councelors from the University your planning to go to and see what advice or insight they can give you. Explain your situation. It's kinda like getting a third party opinion outside the interests of your current school - especially if your current school's budget is based on enrollment. The University councelor won't care about your current councelor's bias and may have a few smart ideas to help work around your situation. Especially if the University likes the idea of your money and enthusiasm being better spent at the University sooner than later. Worse case scenerio at least you'll be introduced to your future councelor.
