Trouble...
Did you ever have one of those days where everything starts out normally and by the end you feel on the edge of a precipice?
Well, that’s today. My wife has had a strange looking mole on her arm. She went into the dermatologist 3 days ago to have it examined. The tests came back today…melanoma. Friday she goes in to have more tests (possibly to see if it has spread to her lymph gland). I’m pretty sure this type of cancer has a pretty successful recovery rate. Hopefully I am making a big deal out of nothing…but still.
I wish I could express as elegantly as some others my love for my wife. She is the cure for all my shortcomings. She makes me a better person. When I say I married up, I wasn’t kidding. Right now I refuse to think of the alternative.
And now with the kids asleep and nothing to distract me, I worry and it hurts.
I am not sure why I am writing this. I don’t like pushing problems on other people. It is a little cathartic and if you took time to read this, I appreciate it.
When she comes home from work, it will be hard to hide the worry, but me freaking out does little. I am not used to hiding my emotions.
Well, there’s my tale of woe. Keep her in your thoughts.
Thanks.

Melanoma is very common in Australia, possibly beause of all our sun and beaches
If caught early and completely excised (cut out), the cure rate is good. If incompletely excised (and pathology exam of the lump will show that) then may need further, deeper surgery to remove remants and possibly lymph nodes, by which melanomas spread through the body, may be necessary.
You and your wife got prayer support, fatal exception.
BTW, if you want any info on melanoma, try here first: http://www.mpip.org/
Cheers

| Don't hide them, you expressing yours gives her permission to express her's. Now it's more important than ever for open honest communication. How can she open up and express her fears to you when you're hiding your fears trying to be strong?
This is a time to not be strong, but be honest, and be there for her and with her.
God bless you both.

I'll second nunya's post. I got so much support from this community when my mother was in hospital, and I'll give back as much as I can.

I'll 2nd Surreals post
Right now it is important for you to tell her how you're feeling.. make sure you tell her how you're feeling... above all she needs to know in her heart and needs to HEAR that you care!
Be there for her, if she has to go to the doctor go with her if possible
